Foliar applications are sprayed onto the leaf surface, most often three times a season, to gain optimal coverage. They protect new leaves from diseases or can be used to reduce damaging insect populations present in the tree. They can be effective against: apple scab, rhizosphaera needle cast, diplodia tip blight, powdery mildew, and much more.
Trunk injections are injected directly into the living tissue of the tree, usually close to ground level. We use industry-leading technology and products that give the clients multi-year protection. Wellner Arboriculture uses trunk injections to control pests such as: Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Bronze Birch Borer, and Two-Lined Chestnut Borer. We can also use trunk injections to combat fungal diseases such as Dutch Elm Disease (DED) and Oak wilt.
Trees and shrubs thrive without the addition of fertilizer in their natural, wooded environment because the soils are rich with organic matter from the forest. In our backyards, trees are forced to compete with our lawns and other plants, and we frequently remove leaves and organic matter that naturally helps plants thrive. Applying a slow-release tree fertilizer is one of the most important things needed to replace lost nutrients throughout the year. Especially for newly planted trees who are still becoming established into their new environment.
